Kitty Kavanagh

Kitty has an intuitive approach to her artwork which includes sculpture pottery collage and some painting in a unique and expressionist style.

Eliza Valerie

Eliza Valerie works in oils, chalk and charcoal and is fascinated by portraits and still life. She has studied oil painting at Malvern Hills College.

Suzanne Nicholl

Suzanne creates layers of colour, texture and motif, in response to time spent in untamed landscapes. Inspired by plein air sketches, photographs and found objects her process focuses on the connection between the emerging image and her personal experience. Suzanne works in acrylics and mixed media. Most recently however she has enjoyed the rich, textural nature of oil and cold wax medium. Prior to completing the Access to Art & Design at Malvern School of Art in 2020, Suzanne had never painted. She attributes her new career to the  passion, generosity  and expertise of its tutors and an invaluable institution.

Alison Griffin

Making art has become important to me; through it I find personal space, perspective and challenge.  A significant part of the enjoyment is in the sharing; particularly in exploring ideas and creating with others.   The creative process encourages looking at the world from alternative viewpoints, broadening our understanding. Exploration means the themes and mediums of my work changes.  I started my studies at Malvern College of Arts before moving onto Hereford College of Art.

Ivan Jones

My passion for painting and my love of nature are intimately connected. I am particularly inspired by the light, colours, and textures of the Malvern Hills, and I try to see my surroundings in a fresh way, to evoke a sense of character in the landscape and express the wonder I experience in the everyday. With a Drama degree and a previous career as a television editor, my route to becoming a fine artist is an unconventional one. I retrained as a mature student at Bristol School of Art and spent 10 years teaching Art in Worcestershire before becoming a professional artist and painting tutor and finally living the dream!

Ian Prior

Having spent a working life mostly school teaching, I am now working for a BA in Fine Art at Hereford College of Arts. Prior to this and in preparation for it, I did the Access course in Art & Design at Malvern Hills College. Although these paintings are called 'Landscape 1 & 2' they are in fact the fourth and fifth pieces in a series inspired by the Malvern Hills. They are part of my response to walking, sitting and standing in these hills. 

At present the greatest influences upon my work are the Expressionists of the last century and the St. Ives' School of modernist painters, particularly Peter Lanyon.

Michael Johnson

I’ve been drawing and painting since childhood but only recently have been able to devote real time and energy to improve, expand and enjoy. Happiness for me is being outdoors with an OS map, sketchbook and pencils. Oh! and not forgetting a flask of tea…. Whatever the weather.

Julie MacLusky

Julie completed courses in oils, watercolour and landscape at Malvern College of Art before co-founding the town's Artists’ Collective. Most recently she has produced a series of watercolour and fine ink works that reflect upon the benefits of the natural landscape discovered during Lockdown.

Kim Williams

Kim Williams was born in Brecon in 1967 and studied at Cheltenham Art College and The Princes Drawing School, London. Exhibiting widely in England, Wales and abroad, she has achieved a number of awards including: Royal Overseas League, Hunting Art Prizes, Cleveland International Drawing Biennale and the Elizabeth Greenshields. She has taught in the west of England particularly Malvern School of Art.

Brian Gorst

Brian Gorst was born in Birmingham in 1969 and studied fine art at Bournville College of Art and then at Cheltenham School of Art. In 1999 he graduated from the Graduate School of Figurative Art at the New York Academy of Art. He has written articles on painting and drawing and is the author of The Complete Oil Painter published in 2003 by Batsford (UK) and Watson Guptill (USA). He has taught at various colleges in the west of England including Malvern School of Art.

EXHIBITION: Stopping and Starting

Elmslie Embroiderers was formed by Caroline Parks in September 2020 with the plan to meet at Elmslie House each Wednesday.

Saturday 22nd January is the first official day of opening so do come along to see the result of all their work since then.

Pop up tea-room open in the bar all day.
