Leading British pianist Mark Bebbington at Elmslie House
Friday 19 July 2024 at 7.30pm
The internationally renowned Mark Bebbington is the most innovative pianist who has performed many times as soloist with major orchestras, including the London Philharmonic and Royal Philharmonic Orchestras. He has appeared regularly, both as concerto soloist and in solo recitals, at the most prestigious venues at home and abroad, including Carnegie Hall, and his extensive discography has received universal acclaim.
In this concert he will include two works by Chopin: his glorious 3rd Piano Sonata, with its mixture of majesty and poetry, and one of his most touching Nocturnes; three compositions by Francis Poulenc: his atmospheric Mélancolie; his engaging Napoli Suite of 1922, the last movement of which gives an impression of the bustle of Naples, and a musical portrait of Edith Piaf; and the première of Corona Suite by composer Derek Smith, a former Malvern resident.
